BIG FRIEND - LITTLE FRIEND

Gives young people the opportunity to gain friendship and example of a sincere adult in a one-to-one relationship that supports the Little Friend and supplements the family structure. Please visit their website at www.bigfriendlittlefriend.org.

BOY SCOUTS - SIOUX COUNCIL

Assists youth mature into wholesome, capable, contributing, personally fit adults by instilling values expressed in the Scout oath and law.

BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF THE MISSOURI RIVER AREA - JUST FOR KIDS

Provides a safe, educationally enriching, quality care for children during the hours before and after school and summer vacations. Please visit their website at http://www.bgcmra.org.

THE CENTER & SENIOR NUTRITION

Provides social activities and daily meals that contain 1/3 of the daily nutrition requirements to seniors sixty and over. They also provide meals to qualified disabled under age sixty. Please visit their website at http://www.yanktonseniorcenter.org.

CONNECTIONS

Promotes positive attitudes and educates the community concerning persons with developmental disabilities and to protect their rights with one-to-one advocacy to assist them in becoming fully functioning citizens.

CONTACT CENTER

Provides direct assistance or proper referral to families and/or individuals in crisis.

FAMILY EDUCATION AND COUNSELING CENTER

Family Education and Counseling Center provides psychological and mental health services to support and strengthen families and individuals in our community.

FAMILY VISITATION CENTER

Provides supervised visitation services to meet family needs - visitations and transfer of children from the custodial to the non-custodial parent.

GIRL SCOUTS - DAKOTA HORIZONS

Helps girls develop strong values, positive decision making abilities, respect for others and the ability to positively contribute to the improvement of society through leadership skills by working in cooperation with community and global issues affecting their present and future well-being. www.gsdakotahorizons.org

HOMELESS SHELTER

Offers temporary shelter to homeless individuals or families. This shelter is found on the belief that all people deserve a home. Email carolepooler@co.yankton.sd.us

INDEPENDENT LIVING CHOICES 

Provides services to people with disabilites who make independence thier choice. Call 605-362-3550 or mcain@ilcchoices.org

LITERACY COUNCIL

Tutors adults in Reading, Writing, Speaking, Math, English as a Second Language or Computer Literacy. Call 665-3048 or Yalc@iw.net.

LSS CONSUMER CREDIT COUNSELING

Provides confidential and professional financial counseling in individual and family money management. Fosters community education on management, budgeting and wise use of credit.

LSS YANKTON COUNSELING OFFICE

Provides counseling to youth at risk families.

PARENTS AS TEACHERS

Provides parents with the information and support they need to give their child the best possible start in child's life.

RED CROSS

Provides relief to victims of disasters and helps people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. It also provides water safety, CPR training and services to military families.

RETIRED & SENIOR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

Provides opportunities for adults age 55 and over to use their life experience and skills to address community needs.

SACK PACK

Provides weekend food for elementary children in need during the school year. 665-7320

SENIOR COMPANIONS

Provides companionship and support services to the frail elderly living in their own homes to prevent premature nursing home placement.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS

Provides physical fitness, sports training and athletic competition for mentally handicapped individuals.

WOMEN'S/CHILDREN'S CENTER

Provides safe, warm full service shelter to women and their children who are victims of domestic violence.

YANKTON'S TRANSIT

Provides transportation to all citizens who live in Yankton through a bus equipped with a chair lift and phoned reservations. 665-4610.

ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS:

IMAGINATION LIBRARY

sends a free book to registered preschool children (birth until their 5th birthday) whose parents/guardians live or work in Yankton County. Available on this web site, pick up a registration form at our office or we will email you the form.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Yankton Area Ice Association for youth, Boys & Girls Club - Just for Kids (all based on need)
