Yankton Volunteer Leaders alongside the United Way & Volunteer Services of Greater Yankton invites those interested to attend, “Tools for Success in an Uncertain Economy” on Thursday, Feb. 23, running from 2-5 p.m. at RTEC, 1200 W 21st Street, Yankton.

This year, the workshop theme is something that concerns all non-profits: money. Whether your program is facing state or federal cuts, or just struggling to fundraise in a tough economy, this workshop is for you.

During the first session, attendees will hear from South Dakota Non-Profit Association Executive Director John Grayson. The SDNA is a membership organization working to strengthen our state’s nonprofit sector by providing member organizations with the tools they need to carry out their missions. SDNA provides leadership training to member organizations, advocates for the nonprofit sector as a whole, and facilitates networking opportunities.

The second session of the day features Dr. Rich Braunstein, facilitator of the Graduate Certificate in Non-Profit Management at the University of South Dakota. The graduate program is designed to give those interested in Non-Profit Management an opportunity to further develop their skills in administration, fundraising, personnel management, grant writing, and budgeting.

Grayson and Braunstein will be sharing information on the S.D. Non-Profit Association, the USD Graduate Certificate in Non-Profit Management, as well as addressing revenue generation, investment portfolios, and annual campaign management.

At the completion of this workshop, participants will be able to: 1) Review factors impacting the budgets for nonprofits; 2) Analyze management principles for success; 3) Understand methods for continued delivery of quality services to clients; 4) Identify resources for support in an uncertain economy.
